All-Star of the Week
Jake was our Awesome All-Star this week. He read aloud his favorite book, Creepy Carrots, to the class. He also shared some of his favorite things on Monday, including his Jiu Jitsu belt, snail picture, and Minecraft toy. We also enjoyed the many family pictures that Jake shared as well. Jake enjoyed a special lunch with his parents and sister during his All-Star week too.
Math Workshop
Reading Workshop
Room 13 has been immersed in different Fairy Tales. We are getting to know Little Red Riding Hood and Three Billy Goats Gruff well. Soon students will be adapting these classic fairy tales in Writing Workshop. We have also read Cinderella and several different adaptations of Cinderella. Cinderella and adaptations will be our class mentor text we use to teach from throughout the unit.
M-Step Testing
Round one of testing is over. Students completed ELA testing on Thursday. We are proud of their hard work! Please remember to have your child have his/her iPad charged and ready to go May 11 and 12 for Math M-Step testing.
Math Workshop
We have started Unit 5. We have focused on solving and writing different types of word problems. Students have solved word problems with unknown addends and unknown factors. They have also practiced drawing math mountains and equal shares drawings to help solve word problems. We have asked students to start solving the daily math writing prompt in the app, SeeSaw. Ask your child to check out his/her iPad to see the math thinking we've been doing! Below are a couple of examples.
