Weekly Blog

All-Star of the Week
This week we enjoyed learning more about Seth!  Seth's share sack included several pictures, a stuffed animal lamb, a trophy and a Pistons ball.  He shared where and how he got each item with us.  On Tuesday he shared his favorite book with us called "Stone Soup".  Wednesday included a very heartfelt letter from his Mom and Dad, who were also able to join him for lunch on Thursday.

Country Reports
We have officially kicked off our research for our country reports, that will be part of the International Festival celebration at the end of April.  Students have all picked a country to research, that represents where some of their ancestors have come from.  This week we learned how to come up with topics and create webs for subtopics to focus on for our reports.  Students then used a variety of books from the Hill and Troy Public Library to start searching for information that will support their topics.  They placed labeled sticky notes within the books for easy location when we start our note taking.  Students will also use apps on their Ipads such as Britannica and World Book Kids.  Since this is such a large project that will consume much of our time, this will be both our reading and writing units of study for the next several weeks.
